e-Mastering & Restoration

Audio Mastering (online Mastering)

Mastering is considered the art of sound enhancing audio recordings or mixes and is the final creative step before CD manufacturing, selling your MP3’s online

or uploading your performances on YouTube or similar.

Audio Mastering:

• Improperly mastered recordings usually lead to hearing fatigue that ultimately takes the pleasure out of the listening experience

• The professional mastering engineer has a fresh and objective ear, the experience and the necessary equipment to enhance recordings and mixes to obtain a good

harmonic balance by correcting and removing the tonal imbalances, thus producing a polished sounding record

• His trained ears have the capability to hear the tiniest details and make corrections where necessary

• The mastering engineer could improve the tonal balance by equalizing (EQ),

• Controlling the dynamic range by compressing and or limiting,

• Matching the level of the recordings, should they have different sources, to a well balanced and appropriate level

• Talking about levels, we advise to keep the dynamic nature of the recording and not overly “flattening” the sound. Even if sometimes it’s best to leave the listener

to enjoy the full dynamic range in a natural way, we will address excessively low average level which need to be raised, by subtly and sensitively increasing the level

Pre-Mastering:

• Secondly, mastering is about preparing the pre-master to be used for CD manufacturing and the Glass Mastering stage

• In addition to the enhanced audio information, the pre-master must include PQ coding and can contain data such as CD Text, ISRC Code and UPC/EAN barcode. A PQ

code print-out will be provided to you for track timing and to the CD manufacturer

• This pre-master needs to be prepared in the way expected by the manufacturing plant, and should be free of faults which would cause problems,

which at that stage can be very costly. CD-RWs are less suited for professional replication due to lower CIRC error-correction

• We offer the best quality and most advanced pre-master format for CD manufacturing, which is DDP, formerly written on Exabyte tapes

• We provide the most up-to-date DDP Image format, which will be uploaded to the CD manufacturing Plant’s network, from which they will burn the Glass Master

directly and without any additional process. The DDP format supplies the full CIRC error-correction, which will assure that the data matches the original, or it will

   stop the process.

e-Mastering

• You don’t have to attend the mastering session, especially if you live far away from our premises…Take advantage of our internet mastering service!

• We are performing the e-mastering with the same professional approach as any attended session, just taking advantage of our studio down-time, being able to

provide you better Rates per mastered song, however turnaround time may possibly be longer than usual

• You can send us your Track(s) by WeTransfer or any other Upload Site in Stereo WAV format, preferably 24 bit 96KHz (or 16 bit and 88.2/48/44.1KHz)

• We will send you a mastered part of 1 Track of your choice for your approval at no cost

• Once we've received your payment we'll send you the mastered Track(s) by WeTransfer

• Even though we hope you will like our first Mastering approach, you're entitled to 1 free correction per Track

Sound Enhancement

Mastering is considered the art of sound enhancing Classical Recordings or Pop/Rock/R&B/Jazz/etc. Mixes

Mastering:

• Improperly mastered recordings usually lead to hearing fatigue that ultimately takes the pleasure out of the listening experience

• The professional mastering engineer has a fresh and objective ear, the experience and the necessary equipment to enhance recordings and mixes to obtain a

good harmonic balance by correcting and removing the tonal imbalances, thus producing a more naturally pleasing and enjoyable sound to the listening ears

• The mastering engineer, he also has the equipment, the experience and the facility to hear the tiniest details and make corrections where necessary

Mastering Classical Recordings and Pop/Rock/R&B/Jazz/etc mixes

• The mastering engineer could improve the tonal balance by equalizing (EQ),

• Controlling the dynamic range by compressing and or limiting,

• Matching the level of the recordings, should they have different sources, to a well balanced appropriate level

• Adding reverberation to dry recordings to reach a more live and pleasant sound

Cleaning up older recordings by removing imperfections (such as hiss, clicks, crackle, noise, and buzz)

from sound recordings, for re-release on CD, DVD, online MP3 or YouTube/similar formats.

We provide this service by using top-end restoration tools, like the SONNOX de-Buzzer, de-Clicker

(including also de-Crackler and de-Poper), as well as de-Noiser.

Restore vinyl records:

• Older vinyl records mostly contain transient noise resulting from record surface damage (clicks, pops,

and crackle caused by surface scratches and wear)

• The mastering engineer will “clean up” these noises by using top-end restoration tools, like de-Clicker,

   de-Crackler, de-Poper and if required de-Noiser and de-Buzzer

Restore analog tapes:

• Older master audio tapes mostly contain hiss and pops caused by surface wear and old splices

• The mastering engineer will “clean up” these noises by using top-end restoration tools, like de-Poper and

   de-Noiser

Restore compromised recordings:

• Some recordings may contain hiss, buzz and hum noises

• The mastering engineer will “clean up” these noises by using top-end restoration tools, like de-Noiser

   and de-Buzzer
